NON-CHEMICAL PROCEDURES

Most household pests can be controlled, or at least significantly reduced, by certain household procedures without the use of chemicals. Even when chemicals are used the following environmental procedures will maintain a household to be free of pests indefinitely.

The following tips are suggested to control pests:

MOSQUITOES

Keep guttering, rock pools, plant areas and other areas where water is retained dry, or empty every two weeks. Keep swimming pools clean. This will deny larval and pupal stages in breeding.
Fit screens to windows and doors.

RATS AND MICE

Keep all doors, windows and other inlets closed, particularly at night. Door and window screens are recommended
Store all food in sealed containers.
Close cupboards when not in use.
Vacuum food-handling and eating facilities daily. Wash up and clean up after eating, especially at night.
Inspect roof cavities and under furniture to check for nest areas.
Check for holes in walls, skirting and drainage pipes. Seal.
Install a Pest Xit Duo or Pest Xit Ultra  unit to maintain a clean environment.

Eliminate all food particles, mainly in kitchen and cupboards, by using a vacuum cleaner or damp cloth.
Store food in sealed containers rather than open bags.
Place waste in garbage can or bin in sealed bags.
Inspect the motors of the fridge and other appliances that are used regularly as Cockroaches are attracted to heat.
Inspect computers, fax machines and microwave ovens for  the same reasons.
Fill and seal all cracks and crevices in cupboards and walls, especially in and near kitchens.
Inspect roof cavities at least annually.
